This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to join a passionate and committed team to develop and deliver the Museum’s Facilities Operations.

The post-holder will be responsible for taking forward and delivering both hard and soft facilities management functions across the National Army Museum estate. Working as a key facilities team member with all other Museum departments, the post-holder will ensure the Museum’s mission, vision and values are cohesively delivered whilst ensuring the Museum’s estate is fit for purpose. The post-holder will have delegated authority within the organisation, for the management of all health and safety, security and sustainability aspects of the Museum’s operations.

This is a varied, demanding, and interesting hands-on role, in which a highly organised and enthusiastic but methodical, technically biased facilities professional will thrive. Being pro-active, with a can-do attitude, approachable, and being able to structure and self-manage the workload is essential, to ensure the needs of the Museum buildings and the Museum teams are met. The post-holder will need to be confident in working through pre-planned tasks and impromptu facilities challenges with equal composure and efficiency.

Programme Co-ordinator, Chelsea Heritage Quarter

Salary: £27,900 one-year contract
Contract type: Freelance (4 days a week, 46 weeks)
Location: Minimum 2 days on site at one of the partner venues in Chelsea

Launched in 2024, the Chelsea Heritage Quarter is a new venture backed by Chelsea Physic Garden, Royal Hospital Chelsea, the National Army Museum and Cadogan. It attracts visitors by telling stories about the UK’s rich history through the remarkable history and heritage of Chelsea.

The Chelsea Heritage Quarter is seeking a programme co-ordinator with a passion for history and heritage and experience of the culture sector to join the team.

Summer Placement – Front of House Visitor Assistant

Salary: National Living/Minimum Wage*
Contract type: Fixed-term placement

This is a unique opportunity to join our Front of House, working across both the Visitor Experience and Retail & Admissions teams to support the Museum and ensure all visitors receive a warm, engaging and professional welcome.

This role will be working 4 days per week, with some weekend working, and running until Friday 31 October 2025.

The timings and duration of all placements can be flexible to suit applicants’ study/term times (if applicable) and will be paid at either National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage (* depending on age). Full induction and training will be provided.

The National Army Museum employs staff in all of the specialist areas relating to our collections, including Archives and Library, Curatorial and Research, Collections Care, Exhibitions, Learning, and Public Programmes.

In addition, we have staff providing other services, including Commercial and Visitor Experience, Technical Services, Development Fundraising, Facilities, Finance and Administration, Human Resources, and Audiences and Communications.

The Museum employs around 100 members of staff in both full and part-time positions, who are located either in the Museum at Chelsea, or at our purpose-built storage and conservation facility at Stevenage. A team of volunteers supports our work.
